20 passenger-less flights performed to Turkey

TEHRAN, Jul. 17 (MNA) – IKAC deputy head has reported on performing 20 flights to Turkey for bringing Iranian passengers back home.

Deputy Director of Administrative Affairs in the Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport City (IKAC) Kourosh Fattahi made the remarks emphasizing that these passenger-free flights to Turkish airports will continue until all Iranian travelers are transferred to their homeland.

“The mission started on Saturday at 15:50 o’clock and so far a total of 20 flights have been launched,” noted the official.

Fattahi stated that 17 of the 20 flights have returned to Iran; “the process will continue as late as all Iranian tourists have arrived back.”

IKAC deputy head reassured that all passengers have boarded airplanes without difficulty since they had purchased tickets in advance.

Stressing that sending tourist to Turkey is currently halted, Kourosh Fattahi stated “Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) has forbidden performance of flights to Turkey; accordingly, current flights are only launched to fetch Iranian nationals.”

Due to the recent political crisis in Turkey and for the safety of passengers, no flights to the Turkish airports had been operated since 23:30 p.m. Tehran local time on Friday.
